Costco says it will stop selling cheap canned soup
Costco said Thursday it would stop selling low-cost canned soup, saying that it would instead focus on better-quality foods.
The move comes after Costco said it had reached a settlement with the Food and Drug Administration over claims that its low-price soup sold in stores didn’t meet consumer safety standards.
Costco also said it would require all its food suppliers to label their products with the company’s seal of approval.
In a statement, Costco said:The goal is to ensure our customers can trust our products and get what they need with the lowest price available to them, and we will continue to invest in better quality and freshness of our food, products and services.
